Tuesday // random facts

… because Tuesdays are good days for a bit of random. (inspired by Promise Tangeman).

  • I was homeschooled. all the way through. and no, we didn’t do school in our PJs.
  • I never did college. and most days, I don’t regret that. (kind of amazing to have no college loans to pay off right now!!!)
  • if the radio’s playing, I’m probably singing. can’t help it. (and if I don’t know the words, I’ll sing harmony and pretend that I do.)
  • I have six brothers and two sisters, all younger. (see pictures here for proof).
  • my first real job was a receptionist at a Volkswagon dealership. still in love with good German engineering!
  • my parents are my best friends. #truestory
  • I can’t eat wheat or dairy. actually, I shouldn’t eat any grains at all. the Paleo diet is my best friend.
  • Psych is my favorite TV show. or maybe it’s Foyle’s War… can’t decide. (soooooo different, I know. I have diverse taste).
  • I drink coffee— every. single. day. I’m a sucker for a good americano (good = I can drink it black).
  • I’m an obsessive list-maker. I have weekly overview lists, daily to-do lists, yearly goal lists, client contact lists, grocery lists, email lists, “just dreaming” lists… you name it, I’ve probably made it into a list at some point in my life.
  • I can’t think if my desk isn’t clean.
  • I’m scared of a blank white piece of paper. or a blank canvas. or a “new document” in Word, Photoshop, or InDesign. I’m much better at editing or modifying than creating from nothing.
  • Myers-Briggs personality type: INFJ
  • total city-girl at heart. (seriously— my heart flutters every time I drive into DC)
  • die-hard bookworm, and always have been. currently in the middle of five different books, on all different topics, in all different categories.
  • I’m obsessed with eBay.
  • ever since getting braces at the age of 13, I haven’t been able to whistle. I’m still bitter about it.
  • I don’t think of myself as a photographer, first and foremost. I love photography, but it’s not my entire life. and I think that’s a good thing.

How about you? Tell me a few random facts about yourself.

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and I never knew you were homeschooled! I was too, from middle school on. And I didn’t end up going to college either! Which is great because a huge chunk of our income goes straight to my husband’s student loans every month lol.

i’m working on one of these posts, too! it’s always fun to learn more about people. :) i love that i already knew most about these about you – except for the whistling one. haha. how unfortunate! but if it makes you feel better….i’ve NEVER been able to whistle.

This was so much fun! I love hearing this stuff!

Although I am a lady through and through, I don’t care for chocolate, shrimp, shopping, American Idol, and I loathe Valentine’s Day. I know, I know… I don’t get it, either.

Public schooled my whole life, didn’t “do” college, either (also don’t regret it most days), obsessed with Etsy, and have 4 sisters, 2 brothers, all older. :)

FABULOUS PHOTO!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Random facts about me:

I don’t think I fit very many molds.

I love to hike.

I love to shop.

I love coffee, but can’t drink it very often because I still have flare ups of stomach ulcers.

I am pretty darn conservative.

I have a tattoo on my ankle.

I married a man who is really different from me, from what I grew up, and from what I thought I wanted.

I am so grateful God knows better than I do.

I still have wanderlust. It won’t be cured….

I snorkel in our river, and pretend I’m in the ocean.

I miss SARAH!

What’s this? You can’t whistle while you work? Oh, that’s just wrong.

Yeah, college. IN some respects, it’s a total waste of time. All I got was a trophy for a pinocle tourny. I’ve done better taking a course here and there than doing the whole program.

So a ghost won’t scare you but a ream of paper will? Interesting!

I love coffee too. When none is available, I have the equivalent of the DTs.

The rest you pretty much know…Well there are some things you don’t.

First of all, that portrait is stunning! Secondly, I stopped being able to whistle after braces, too!! SO UNFAIR!
