Dad & Mom. I don’t have words to express how much you mean to me. I am who I am because of you. Not just because you bore me and raised me, but because you nurtured my soul. You taught me to love Jesus. You showed me what it means to love and to forgive and to trust and to “walk humbly with my God.” You are the reason that I love marriage, and consequently that I love weddings enough to spend my life photographing them. After nearly 30 years together, you still give each other goosebumps and sweep each other off your feet, and know how to make each other laugh, and have inside jokes.

I want to be like you when I grow up. I know what you’d say to that— “strive to be like Christ, not us. we’re just broken sinners.” Yes, Dad & Mom, I know. But you show me Jesus, which is why I want to be like you.
